Following the Government’s announcement to re-open non-essential stores from 15th June the team at Grand Arcade have been working hard to make necessary changes throughout the shopping centre to ensure the right balance of measures are in place to protect staff and customers who visit. Safety is the number one priority.
Shoppers will be able to access the centre via the main entrance on Standishgate and Lanes entrance between Warriors World and The Body Shop. There will be hand sanitiser stations at both entrances to use when entering the centre. All other entrances via Debenhams and Poundland will remain closed until further notice.
Government guidelines now state that wearing an appropriate face covering by the general public and all retail staff in shops, supermarkets, shopping centre malls, banks and post offices is now law. Exemptions include children under 11 years of age, people with breathing difficulties an people living with a disability.
The management team would appreciate shoppers continued support in respecting Government’s advice to adhere to social distancing when visiting the centre. This includes standing no closer than 2-metres when completing a transaction or when queuing, only using card payments and contactless where possible.
A one-way system around the centre has been implemented asking everyone to keep left, this allows shoppers to move around while easily observing the safe 2-metres distancing rule. Members of the public are asked to follow the directional poster guides and floor markers on display around the centre.
As the number of shoppers allowed in stores is likely to be restricted, queuing areas will be in place outside each store. There will be also be revised opening hours, we advise shoppers to check with individual retailers before travelling.
The escalators, lifts and stairs will be in use, please familiarise yourself with the guidance displayed before use. The public toilets and Customer Service Desk have now reopened as of 29th June. There will be no seating areas and limited children’s ride available. Both Crompton Street and Millgate car park are open to use.
John Sanson, Centre Manager commented ‘The team at Grand Arcade have been working hard behind the scenes to ensure staff and shoppers feel safe when visiting the centre but also ensuring it will be an enjoyable experience.
We are asking shoppers to follow the directional and helpful signage which we have in place around the centre.
Now is the time for everyone to start supporting their town, high street retailers and local economy but in safe way. We are very much looking forward to welcoming new and regular customers back to Grand Arcade.
Please be kind to our staff, we are here to help you and ask that you follow any guidance they may be offering.’
The Grand Arcade team wish to thank the public for their ongoing support and understanding over the past months.
