Grand Arcade is hosting a traditional Christmas nativity in the heart of Wigan this festive season, as well as a variety of festive activities, in partnership with Transforming Wigan.
On Saturday 16th December Grand Arcade welcomes Church members from the ‘Transforming Wigan Christmas Campaign’, where local churches have come together to provide festive activities for shoppers.
Transforming Wigan aims to revive the spiritual heart of Wigan, encouraging the local churches in Wigan to work together in bringing about transformational change in their areas, by reaching out and serving the community around them.
The festive nativity scene currently displayed in Grand Arcade has been donated from the church, and they are hosting a range of activities on Saturday 16th including a Nativity Trail around the mall, where young shoppers have to hunt the Nativity images hidden in shop windows to receive a small prize. There will also be a free gift wrapping service, puppet shows and local choirs who will be performing on the hour from 10am to 3pm filling the Centre with festive carols.
Shoppers are invited to seek out the Sleeping Inn Keeper in the nativity scene, as he gathers listeners around his stable to tell the story of Christmas Night.
